• This was just painful to watch. The Chargers hung in and did their best but we were outplayed. Toward the end of the game we turned the ball back over to them on downs. The good news is that we. ended up with 24 points so we weren’t slaughtered. (Sigh) Next week the Vikings.

    Go Chargers!

  • This was an exciting one! And we won! But there was no way to know that was going to happen. The most exciting part was when we were down one point and the game was coming to a close. It looked like Herbert was going to be sacked but he managed to throw to McConkey and McConkey raced down the field for 42 yards! Dicker got the field goal and that gave us the 3 points we needed to win.

Also, Allen made a terrific catch and stayed in the lines to make it good. So amazing to watch. This season is going to be a nail biter. Next week we play the Colts.

    Go Chargers!

  • Well, I thought this would go better. We had two turnovers. The first was when the ball was knocked out of Johnston’s hands. That’s not right! On the second one we were almost to our goal line but the ball got tipped and we lost it in an interception.

Also, Justin Herbert has been under a lot of pressure. He’s just not getting good pass protection. That has to be corrected if we’re going to win games. Vidal had some successes so yay for him!

So the game goes on. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.

    Go Chargers!

  • Well, the Chargers lost this game, but I don’t think anybody was under the illusion that the Chargers were going to win every game this season. I think Colson was doing a good job but he injured his shoulder and I read he’s out for the season. Herbert was sacked twice. He doesn’t seem to be getting the protection he needs. He also threw two interceptions. We had several penalties which cost us lots of yards.

On the bright side, Herbert and Johnston pulled off a play that was so precise that I wouldn’t have thought it was possible and scored a touchdown! It was amazing. Even if you didn’t watch the game it might be worth it to watch that play just for the thrill of it.

And there was a brilliant run by Hampton that got us 54 yards. Good times, good times.

On Sunday Oct 5 we play the Washington Commanders. Hopefully we excel in this game. Whatever happens, I plan to enjoy it.

    Go Chargers!

  • There were a lot of penalties in this game. For a while I thought we’d never get through it. And Herbert was sacked five times! I just couldn’t see how we’d win. But what do I know? In the end we were victorious.

I’ve been clear what a big Keenan Allen fan I am. Later in the game Herbert threw two passes and Allen caught them both. But not just any passes. They were the kind that leave you shaking your head and wondering how they were possible. Brilliant! I’ve never been more proud!

We’ve now played every team in our division and won all three games. Life is looking pretty good right now. But it’s time to venture out into the wide world of teams and stake our claim there. Hopefully our streak holds. Whatever happens, I’m going to bask in this glory for now.

    Go Chargers!

  • The Chargers won again! Great start to the season. And it’s particularly fun for me because I remember, decades ago, when the Raiders would try to hurt the players on the other team. You’d think I’d forget but nope! I felt sorry for Geno Smith. I think quarterbacks are much more effective when they’re willing to run and he does. More importantly, so does our Justin Herbert!

Khalil Mack (a linebacker, whatever that is) came out because of an elbow injury. I saw the play and it really looked painful. But he got his arm in a sling and came back out to watch the rest of the game. He’s an important player.

And then there was Quentin Johnston. He was everywhere! What a player. It’ll be interesting to see what he does this season. Please, no injuries!

And now we play the Broncos. Into the fray once again. Go Chargers!

  • What a game! I had my doubts that we could win but we stayed ahead all the way through. Keenan Allen played like the pro he’s always been. I was impressed with McConkey. We’ll be hearing great things about him this season.

I’m not crazy about watching the game on YouTube. Usually I watch the games after the fact and FF through the commercials. Maybe that’s true for YouTube as well but I was afraid to test it on Sunday. I used to always have the Sunday Ticket but it got too expensive. Now I have the NFL app. I can’t watch the games in real time but it’s cheaper and I can watch without commercials. Of course, I can’t see or read any news until I’ve seen the game but I watch the games pretty soon so it’s not a problem. I did have a couple of instances though. One time I walked into a restaurant and two of the waitstaff were talking about the game and I had to ask them to wait until I was seated. And again, I live in San Diego and one time I was visiting family in Mississippi. We were eating in a restaurant and I looked up at the tv and there was a Chargers game on! I changed my seat so I couldn’t see the game because I was recording it.

Ah, the things I will do so my fun isn’t spoiled. Anyway, the next game is Monday and we’re playing the Raiders, my least favorite. That’s a holdover from when the Raiders used to try and deliberately hurt players on the opposing team. So this game is important! Until next week. Fingers crossed.

  • My name is Lorrie and I love the Chargers and I love football. I don’t care if the Chargers moved to Los Angeles. I’m pretty sure the players didn’t want to go. I’m loyal to my team. I don’t know much about football. I know some of the rules and penalties. I cheer for every score! And grit my teeth every time Justin gets sacked. I’m living proof that there’s a lot to enjoy about football based on very little knowledge. This blog is for people who are fine with a limited understanding of the game or just want to join the conversation.

So I’m going to start with everything I care about today. Jim Harbaugh is our head coach. Yay! Justin Herbert will go down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Keenan Allen is back! I never did understand why he left. (My guess is it had something to do with money) I hope he’s as good as he was before! Mike Williams has moved on. Who knows why? I thought he was doing pretty good. Tomorrow I’ll have more to say.

Because tonight is the Chargers/Chiefs game! Raise the goal posts! Paint the field!

    Go Chargers!
